For TPS2026 Satellite Meeting: Taiwan’s contributions to the International Gravitational-Wave Observatory Network (IGWN)
==//==
The international gravitation wave (GW) science community is integrating the existing research programs on GW observatories of LIGO, VIGRO, KAGRA and their associated activities into one coherent framework IGWN, which is expected to start the second half of 2026. While the domestic Taiwan GW teams naturally have to react and re-adjust and re-adapt to the new global protocols, this transition also offers a “reset” opportunity for us to reflect and re-structure and re-optimize and re-prioritize –following the lessons learnt through the past decade of operational experience. We will present an overview on the evolving IGWN plans for the Academia Sinica GW group, whose members have participated in the LIGO and KAGRA programs, through the provision of computing and other facilities, with in-situ mirror coating R&D, and via the studies of GW Sciences like stochastic background and the expecting new arena on neutron stars science. The goals of complementarities and mutual enhancement with the other Taiwan GW teams will be discussed.
