With the advancement of contemporary microscopy tools, fluorescence microscopy has been applied to every field of biological research, offering practical solutions. From imaging a single organ of millimeter size to the fast tracking of individual molecules within an organelle, these tools can be utilized in a variety of biophysics research scenarios, spanning a vast range in spatial and temporal scales. In this talk, we will demonstrate how single-molecule imaging is used to map a specified neuron receptor in intact brain tissue and to extract the detailed dynamics of a protein recruitment process in cultured cells. We will discuss the limitations and advantages of these imaging techniques and also review the practical insights we gained through these studies.
